Out with Castlereagh Cycling Club again today, wet roads, very low temperatures so lots of layers to keep the heat in, and some nice if weak sunshine only ruined by one short shower of rain.
We set off from Forestside and went up the Saintfield road to Carryduff and then took the Killynure road taking in part of the old Temple 100 road race circuit to emerge out at Saintfield. From Saintfield we took the Station road through Darragh Cross to Raffrey and then turned right and ventured over to Balloo, Killinchy and Whiterock stopping at ‘Daft Eddies‘ for a mug o tae and a Croissant.
Leaving Daft Eddies we meandered our way along the Strangford Lough coastline through the County Down lanes to Comber where most took the direct route back to Belfast and on to Ormeau Park to watch some of the Cyclocross racing. Myself and another guy took the main road from Comber over to Newtownards specifically to climb up Bradshaws Brae and then on to Ormeau Park.
Standing stationary at Ormeau Park I soon started to get very cold so I saddled up again and rode in to and through Belfast, along Sydenham road and out the Airport road to Holywood before heading home for a final total of 57.9 miles.
