Tour of Ards

The forecast was promising for an OK day of light showers in the Morning clearing to a drier, brighter Afternoon but the predicted showers were, in reality, just one steady, continuous fall of light Rain! I was already geared up for the Bicycle so out I went anyway. Had I known it was going to be as wet and dirty a Morning as what it was, I would have taken the ‘Winter Bike‘ instead of my good bike.

I clipped in to the Pedals and set off up the Knock Road, turned on to the Newtownards Road and up the Old Belfast Road to Bradshaw’s Brae descending down in to Newtownards past Kiltonga Wildlife Park. Through the Town and out the Portaferry Road to the old Carrowdore Motorcycle Road Race Circuit before turning around and retracing my tracks back to the Portaferry Road where I dismounted to watch the start of the Tour of Ards Cycle Race. A large field of racers all safely made it around the corner I was watching at and as they passed through it was back on the Saddle in to Newtownards over to Scrabo and down the main Carriageway through Dundonald and home for a handy enough thirty two miles not taking too much out of the Legs in the hope they will be fresh for the BCC Camlough‘s Spring Sixty Sportive in the Morning.
