Phoenix CC Club spin

Despite the roads still being wet from last Nights Rain there was no doubt in my mind about what Bicycle to ride on this Morning’s Phoenix CC club spin, the good bike aka my Cannondale. There was however many doubts about what clothing to go with, we are bang in the middle of the change in Seasons with the afternoon temperatures holding up and the Morning temperatures being chilly.

A large Breakfast of Yoghurt and Granola then Tea and Toast and a couple of pints of Water for pre-hydration and soon I was out the door, clipping in to the Pedals and setting of along the Knock dual carriageway for the House of Sport. A large turnout saw a huge B1 group set off for Carnlough and then our B2 group took to the Malone Road down past Lady Dixon Park through Drumbeg and in to the Sandy Lane and then a short hop up part of the Lagan Towpath to Lisburn.

Taking the Ballynahinch road out of Lisburn we had a couple of short stops to fix one of the girls slipping seat post. We continued on through Legacurry, Annahilt and Ballynahinch. We then took the country lanes from Drumaness to Ballydugan and then back out on to the main road to pass through Downpatrick and out the Killyleagh road as far as Delamont Country Park before taking the lanes again to Kilmore and on to Listooder down in to Saintfield.

With the club then turning left I bade them farewell and turned right going solo to Ballygowan and on to Comber then back to Dundonald via the Comber Greenway. Somewhere along the way the rough roads had also made my seatpost slip down below my ideal height which was less than ideal with my Saddle now to low which was causing a little knee and muscle pain. I soon rectified it back at home.

65 Miles clocked up door-to-door and we were fortunate to miss all of the Rain showers floating around.
