With less showery, more settled Weather predicted I booked Two days annual leave to give me a nice long Weekend and this Morning I set off on the Bicycle in distinctly chilly, misty, dry conditions to meet ‘the Rubble‘ section of Phoenix Cycling Club on the outskirts of Lisburn for their Weekly Thursday Morning Cycle. The Rubble is made up of mostly retired Men but ‘outsiders‘ are more than welcome.
I set off down the Comber Greenway in to town then took the Lagan towpath to Lambeg, the towpath was looking very Autumnal and there was mist on the Water of the River Lagan. I made my way up to the old Coca Cola Factory at Lambeg and was soon joined by the Rubble, a couple of Phoenix ladies and a couple of other Phoenix members.
By the time we set off the mist was quite a thick Fog and despite the forecast for it to burn off quickly and leave a Sunny Day that never really transpired, the fog hung around all Morning and the hardy few who dressed for a Summers Day felt the chill.
Our route took us from Lambeg up the Lagan towpath to Lisburn then up the Ballynahinch road through Legacurry, Annahilt, Ballykeel and up in to Kinallen then looping round the lanes to Ashfield, Blackskull and along the Ballgowan road back to Hillsborough.
From Hillsborough it was along the Ballynahinch road back to Annahilt back through Legacurry to Lisburn and the Lagan towpath back to our Lambeg starting point. The whole spin was kept at a handy pace just what I needed with legs still heavy from the slaughter on Tuesday Night.
Door-to-door I had clocked up 67 miles.
