Setting off along the Knock dual carriageway for the House of Sport and the Phoenix CC Saturday Club spin it was another very pleasant Autumnal Morning and with time on my side I had a short stop at Minnowburn for a few quick Phone pics.
The forecast was for a few scattered showers but the nice weather saw a large turnout.
We left the House of Sport through Drumbeg and took the Sandy lane and then the Lagan towpath to Lisburn. Leaving Lisburn on the Ballynahinch road passing through Legacurry and soon the shout of puncture brought the group to a halt whilst repairs were carried out. Rolling onwards to Annahilt we came in to some very light rain on the approach to Ballynahinch but luckily it never got any heavier. From Ballynahinch it was out the Downpatrick road for a few miles then a right turn in to the Loughinisland road weaving around the lanes to Ballydugan Lake then past the Mill crossing the main road and taking an alternative route in to Downpatrick.
At Downpatrick myself and seven others stopped for Tea and Pancakes with Maple Syrup whilst the rest of the group opted not to stop. Fuelled up again we took the Killyleagh road past the Quoile Bridge right the way in to Killyleagh before turning left and cycling through Shrigley, Derryboye, Raffrey and on in to Ballygowan. Leaving Ballygowan on the Ravara road my group was navigating to Carryduff so a bade them farewell and set a course for Moneyreagh and back to Dundonald.
The club spin was 48 miles and door-to-door I clocked up 66 miles in pleasant conditions for the time of year, no doubt the Weather will turn soon.
